EJC condemns terrorist attacks in Istanbul and Cairo
(Sunday, December 11, 2016) – The European Jewish Congress (EJC) has expressed its condemnation for terrorist attacks that took place near an Istanbul football stadium and a Coptic Christian Cathedral in Cairo.
“Unfortunately, we are closing another year with another volley of violence perpetrated by those who seek to shed innocent blood because of a radical ideology,” Dr. Moshe Kantor, President of the EJC, said. “The targeting of a place of worship is especially painful for us as Jews, and we hope that decent and moral leaders will say enough in 2017 and clamp down on terrorism, extremism and violent hatred and incitement.”
“It is vital that we join, as an international community, to send a message to the terrorists that this cannot continue and we will work together to thwart their attempts to change our societies and instil fear in our communities.”
