NEW ALERT STATE IN SPAIN 26/10/2020
IMPORTANT !DOUBTS ABOUT THE ALERT STATE!
➡️ Is the present alert state like the previous one?
➡ ️What’s different?
Mainly that there will be no home confinement of the population.
➡️When does it take effect?
➡️ How long will this state of alert last?
Probably, until Monday 9 November, but the government’s initial idea is that the state of alert will be extended for six months, until 9 May. It has to be approved by the Congress of Deputies this week.
➡ ️ Could it be completed before May 9?
Yes, but it doesn’t appear that it will happen. The six months that the government has set are based on scientific and technical criteria. According to experts, this is the time needed to turn the curve and stop the pandemic’s progress.
➡️Will there be a general containment of the population?
Initially no, but powers are devolved to the presidents of each autonomous community. So, if the data deteriorate in a community, they could even decree confinement at home.
In any case, the government’s demand is that the population should stay at home as much as possible. Less mobility, less contact and less risk of contagion.
➡️Will be able to leave our homes freely?
No. During the day, it will be possible to go out for any reason, but at night movement is limited.
➡ ️At what time does curfew start ?
Throughout Spain the curfew is from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
➡️Do all the Autonomous Communities have the same timetable?
No. Each Autonomous Community can advance or delay the curfew start time. For example, it could start between 10 p.m. and 00 a.m. and end between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
➡️Aree there any exceptions to the curfew?
Yes, during curfew you can be outdoors for the following reasons. These are a few:
📌To buy medicines.
📌Return from work.
📌Get into home.
📌Take care of the elderly.
➡️ So can I take the dog out after 11 p.m. or go for a run?
In principle not, unless your autonomous community has set a curfew at 00:00.
➡️ What will it happen for Christmas?
We don’t know, but it is very likely that Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve festivities will be celebrated with the cohabitings. The government intends to approve the state of alert until 9 May. The curfew would be extended until that date, so that after 11 p.m. it would no longer be possible to be on the streets.
➡️ Is there an autonomous community that will not have a curfew?
Yes, the Canary Islands.
➡️Will we be able to move around within the autonomous community?
It depends. Each community will decide whether there will be free movement within its territory or whether there will be perimeter confinements – of neighbourhoods, towns, districts, provinces, etc. – within the community itself.
➡ ️Is there movement between communities?
That also depends. Each community decides to close its territory to other autonomies. If a community closes its borders, there may be displacement for reasons of work, education or health.
➡️ How many people can be brought together?
Communities can also limit social gatherings, but with a maximum of six people, unless they are cohabitants.
