International Division Vice Chair Edwin Shuker and International Relations Officer David Walsh met a senior civil servant from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to discuss Jewish heritage in Iraq, the Iraqi Jewish community, issues relating to Iraqi Jews in the diaspora and broader regional issues.
David Walsh met a newly appointed diplomat at the Lithuanian Embassy to discuss ongoing cooperation between the Embassy and the Board of Deputies.
COMMUNITY
Chief Executive Gillian Merron, Public Affairs Director Phil Rosenberg and Parliamentary Officer Joel Salmon held meetings with Jewish community leaders and stakeholders in Manchester. They met the Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and Region to discuss how the Board of Deputies can further support Jewish communities in Manchester. They also met North West Friends of Israel, the Jewish Small Communities Network and the Jewish Telegraph. The Nicky Alliance Centre hosted Gillian and Joel, showing them around the facility, which includes a talking newspaper, a reminiscence room and regular events and classes for the community. |

EDUCATION
Phil Rosenberg joined a call on Scottish education policy with the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities and the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council.
Phil Rosenberg, Education Policy Adviser Dawn Waterman, Education Projects Manager Sara Perlmutter and Education Consultant Sandra Teacher met Ben Crowne, author of the Know a Jewish Charity series, to discuss his research on Charedi schools.
INTERFAITH
Phil Rosenberg and Interfaith and Social Action Officer Anthony Silkoff met Rowena Loverance from the Quaker Committee for Christian and Interfaith Relations to talk about how we can enhance relations between our two communities.
UK JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL
The Board of Deputies is delighted to be supporting the 21st UK International Jewish Film Festival for the third year running. The Festival will present 115 screenings from 9-26 November at 18 cinemas across the UK and includes a wonderful array of film premieres, special events, panel discussions and Q&As with leading directors, producers, actors, journalists, academics and others.
