PRESIDENT VLADIMIR SLOUDTER IJC’S PRESIDENT MESSAGE ABOUT PITTSBURGH SYNAGOGUE SHOOTING
Dear friends, just wanted to enclose below statement by IJC President Sloutsker, following news of the horrific shooting attack on our brothers & sisters in Pittsburgh today!
*Statement by IJC President Vladimir Sloutsker on Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting*
Today, the Jewish people grieve as one.
The horrific events that unfolded today at the ‘Tree of Life’ Synagogue in Pittsburgh, where a shooter murdered 8 innocent people, as they were attending and celebrating Shabbat services, is truly barbaric and evil beyond words.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims families. May they be comforted and their memories always blessed. We also wish for full and speedy recovery to all those injured in this horrific massacre.
An attack against a Jew anywhere, must be seen as an attack against Jews everywhere.
Today, more than ever, it is time for us to reinforce the principle of ‘Kol Yisrael arevim zeh l’zeh’ – that all Jews are responsible for one another, irrespective of where we may be. Whether it is Israel, Europe or the United States, we are one people, one community, inextricably intertwined.
The Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC) stands in complete and unwavering solidarity together with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh and the United States, in mourning those killed in this monstrous attack, in wishing a full and speedy recovery to those injured, and reaffirming our united commitment to fight Antisemitism and ensure the right of Jewish communities to pray and practice in safety and peace, wherever they may be.
