Mr Barclay, who has been MP for North East Cambridgeshire since 2010, has held various senior governmental positions including Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, and Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union from November 2018 until January 2020. He has been Chief Secretary to the Treasury since February 2020 and prior to his career in politics worked in the financial services and legal sectors as well as serving in the armed forces. President Marie van der Zyl and International Relations Officer Talia Ingleby attended the Commonwealth Jewish Council’s President’s Forum with President of the Commonwealth Jewish Council, Lord Mendlesohn. Topics discussed included the rise in antisemitism experienced by diaspora communities as a result of the latest conflict in the Middle East.
